Youth Art Enrichment

Youth Art Enrichment
March 19-22, 2018

YAE has changed! Over the years we’ve received a lot of feedback about the timing of the program and the difficulty some schools face in participating. In an effort to make the program more accessible, we are offering the program from March 19-22, 2018, which is during March Break (for Whitehorse and most Yukon communities).

We are currently working on the details – stay tuned for more info!

If you are a youth, parent/guardian, teacher or principal, and have any questions or would like to give us your input on this change, please contact us! You can reach us at or at 867-993-5005.

What is Youth Art Enrichment (YAE)?

Now in its 17th year, YAE is an annual four-day intensive art program for Yukon high school students hosted by the Klondike Institute of Art & Culture in Dawson City.

What is the Klondike institute of Art & Culture?

The Klondike Institute of Art & Culture (KIAC) is a non-profit community organization created to enrich the quality of life in the Yukon through the enhancement of arts, culture and an arts-based economy.

When is YAE?

Previously held over four days during the first week in November, the program will now be held from March 19-22, 2018.

Who can participate in YAE?

YAE is open to youth, ages 14-18, with an expressed interest in the arts. Youth who wish to participate will need to fill out an application form, explaining their interest in art and why they want to participate in the program. The application form will be available online starting mid-January 2018.

What are the benefits of participating in YAE?

Too many to list here! YAE provides the opportunity for students to work with a professional artist, focus on a creative discipline of their choice for an intense and sustained period of time and discuss future career and educational options.

How much does YAE cost?

KIAC covers a significant amount of the student cost to participate through sponsorship and core funding, however each student must contribute $100.00 towards hotel expenses and will need approximately $60 for evening meals.
